The annual Stella Prize – awarded to Australian female writers of fiction and non-fiction work and worth $50,000 – will be announced at a ceremony in Sydney next Thursday, April 12.
We are delighted to report that sales of the shortlisted titles – featured above – have been strong and we congratulate all six authors, who each receive $3000 for making the final group. As Brisbane bookseller and 2018 Stella judging panel chair Fiona Stager says, “ The six titles shortlisted for the 2018 Stella Prize showcase the incredible breadth of talent in the writing by women in Australia today. The personal interweaves seamlessly with the political as these authors investigate the past, examine the present and re-imagine our future. Ideas about family, identity in all its forms, and politics at both its most profound and intimate levels are themes that connect these six diverse, engaging and original books.”
We have copies of the shortlisted works in store, just ask one of our staff to assist.
